Books

Books about Nick:

Frozenlight/ShiningLight by Colin Betts

Trailblazers: The Tragic Lives of Gram Parsons, Nick Drake, & Jeff Buckley by David Bret
(Claims that Nick was gay, take it as you wish.)

Pink Moon by Jason Creed
(“Between 1994 and 2000 Jason Creed published 19 issues of Pink Moon, a fanzine devoted to the life and music of Nick Drake.  This compilation of articles, interviews and other writings, as they appeared in the fanzine, is augmented with additional commentary.  It is an illuminating look at this much loved yet most mysterious British singer/songwriter.” -Amazon.com)

Darker than the Deepest Sea: The Search for Nick Drake by Trevor Dann

Nick Drake: The Sweet Suggestions of the Pink Moon by Luca Ferrari
(I believe this one is actually in Italian)

Nick Drake: The Complete Guide to his Music by Peter Hogan (Consumer’s guide to his music. It gives an analysis of the 3 officially released albums, and includes track by track analysis, information on when and where the music was recorded, an index of compilation, and a track index)

Nick Drake by Patrick Humphries
(This seems to be the most recommended out of all of them)

Pink Moon 33 1/3 by Amanda Petrusich
(Focuses on Nick now, especially the VW commercial)

Nick has also been featured in the music magazine Mojo a few times, and has been on the cover twice:

#39. February 1997
#187. June 2009

Along with that, Nick’s producer, Joe Boyd, wrote a book about making music in the 1960s (though it isn’t specifically about Nick)

White Bicycles: Making Music in the 1960s by Joe Boyd
